Costs covered include tuition, fees, books, and food and housing, and may include additional personal costs. 💼 Mr. Russell’s Business Essentials Class Explores Profit and Risk with the Card Game PIT! 💼 Today, students in Mr. Russell’s Business Essentials class at Elk Valley High School took a deep dive into the concepts of profit and risk—key elements in any successful business strategy. And what better way to understand these ideas than through a hands-on, fast-paced game of PIT? 🎲📈 Here’s how they connected the game to real-world business: Understanding Profit: In PIT, students learned that to "corner the market" on a commodity, they need to make strategic trades to maximize their cards—just like businesses work to maximize profit by managing resources effectively. The thrill of gaining all nine cards in a suit gave them a taste of how businesses feel when they hit profit goals! Managing Risk: The game’s chaotic trading environment helped students experience the uncertainty businesses face. With every trade, they had to weigh the risk of losing out on a better opportunity versus the potential gain. This real-time decision-making mirrored the challenges companies face when navigating market risks. Strategy in Action: By organizing their cards and choosing which commodity to focus on, students practiced strategic thinking—critical in managing profit and risk in the business world. This interactive lesson wasn’t just fun—it was a powerful way for our future business leaders to connect classroom concepts to real-world scenarios. We’re excited to see them apply these lessons as they continue exploring the business world! #ElkValleyHigh #BusinessEssentials #ProfitAndRisk #HandsOnLearning #FutureBusinessLeaders
